OUR SPECIALTY: WHOLE-BUILDING LCA

C-Wise is proud to offer stand-alone whole-building life cycle assessment services for your green building project. We perform an assessment on your building project to determine how to reduce embodied carbon to make the biggest impact on your project.

For years, the green building movement has focused on reducing the carbon associated with building operations, which primarily relates to energy efficiency and onsite renewable energy generation.

However, more and more people in the building industry are beginning to recognize the importance of addressing embodied carbon, or the carbon emissions generated from building material extraction, manufacturing, and transportation.

Greenhouse gas emissions from the building and construction industry account for over 37% of emissions globally. In order to tackle this crucial and urgent problem, we must look at the whole picture. Industrial materials like steel and concrete are incredibly energy-intensive to produce, and when we use large amounts of them in construction, the associated carbon emissions are embodied in that building forever.

Why embodied carbon?

But how do you know what materials are the most carbon intensive? C-Wise provides carbon accounting services to run a holistic analysis of your building design to help you find the easiest and cheapest ways to lower your embodied carbon and maximize your environmental impact.
